The Government of Catalonia is launching an app which provides users with a comprehensive compilation of relevant information about the beaches of Catalonia. Beachgoers will have access to information on an exhaustive list of almost 300 beaches along the Catalan coast, with updates on the current conditions (flag safety, water quality rating, possible presence of jellyfish, weather or state of the sea), as well as details about the characteristics of the beaches and the facilities and services found there.
Beachgoers can create their own list of favourite beaches and have information on the conditions commonly found there at their fingertips; there is even the option of receiving alerts in the event of an incident being recorded for the area. In addition, there is extensive general information on Catalan beaches and useful tips on what to do in untoward situations, such as how to treat a jellyfish sting.
Aspects such as proximity, GPS position, and beach characteristics allow users to find those beaches that best suit their interests and needs. With this in mind, the app facilitates the selection of beaches according to different user groups, such as water sports enthusiasts, naturists or those visiting with young children.
As part of its commitment to operate as a tool for both residents and tourists, the app is available in 7 languages:
- Catalan
- Spanish
- French
- English
- German
- Italian
- Russian
